National Target Program on Climate Change, PM Decision No. 158/QD-TTg, 2008 (Viet Nam)
The Program's overall objective is to assess climate change impacts on various domains and localities in the short and long-term periods, and formulate feasible action plans to effectively respond to climate change in order to ensure national sustainable development. Its implementation will also enable the country to develop a low-carbon economy and join international efforts in mitigating climate change and protecting the global climate system.

- Assessing the extent and impacts of climate change in Viet Nam
- Working out climate change response solutions
- Formulating a scientific and technological program on climate change
- Increasing organizational capacity, institutions and policies on climate change
- Raising awareness and develop human resources
- Increasing international cooperation
- Integrating climate change into socio-economic development strategies, programs, master plans, and development plans of branches and localities
- Elaborating climate change response action plans of ministries, branches and localities
- Formulating and implementing projects under the Program
