National REDD+ Program 2011–2020, 2012 PM Decision No. 799/QD-TTg, 2012 (Viet Nam)

The issuance approves the National Action Program on "Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through efforts to reduce deforestation and forest degradation, sustainable management of forest resources, conservation and enhancement of forest carbon stocks" (REDD+ Program), 2011 to 2020. The overall goal of the Program is the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through efforts to mitigate deforestation and forest degradation, increased GHG sequestration by forests, sustainable management of forest resources, biodiversity conservation, and contribution to the successful implementation of the national strategy on climate change and poverty reduction, and striving towards sustainable development. Specific objectives are also identified under the overall goal. The key tasks for the periods 2011 to 2015 and 2016 to 2020 are also identified, as well as solutions for improving the legal framework to facilitate REDD+ implementation. It also contains provisions on program funding and the implementation mechanism.
