National Insurance Trust Fund Act No. 28 of 2006 (Sri Lanka)

The Act establishes the National Insurance Trust Fund (Fund) from which benefits shall be paid to persons including public officers or government employees, retirees from government service, as well as farmers, fishermen, self-employed persons, needy persons or group of persons as may time to time be identified by Order in the Official Gazette, and similar persons identified in the Act. The Fund shall be used for settlement of expenses of said persons being treated at dedicated wards of hospitals, expenses incurred for treatment of critical illness and treatment at a hospital where such treatment is available, expenses in case of death of such persons due to accident when death occurs before the retirement age. Such persons, on the other hand, are liable to pay monthly contributions to the fund in such amount as will be specified.
