National Green Growth Strategy for 2021-2030, Vision Towards 2050 (Viet Nam)

The overall target for the strategy is to accomplish green growth, thereby contribute to the restructuring of the economy in conjunction with renewing the growth model. It also aims to achieve economic prosperity, environmental sustainability and social equality, strive towards a green and carbon neutral economy, as well as contribute to the reduction global warming. 

Its specific targets are:

• Reduce the greenhouse gas emissions intensity per unit of GDP
• Greenify economic sectors
• Greenify the people's lifestyles and promote sustainable consumption
• Greenify the transformation process based on the principles of equality, inclusivity and raising the resilience

For each of these, key targets until 2030 and until 2050 are identified. Specific tasks are also assigned to ministries and ministry-level organs. The National Steering Committee on green growth is further established to direct the Strategy’s implementation, while the Ministry of Planning and Investment shall assume the primary responsibility and coordinate with relevant organs in the formulation of the National Steering Committee’s functions, tasks and working regulations, which would then be submitted to the Prime Minister for decision.
