National Forestry Policy, 2009 (Bhutan)

Bhutan has a heritage of rich natural resources, including its forest resources. The aim of the National Forestry Policy is for Bhutan’s forest resources and biodiversity to be managed sustainably to produce a wide range of social, economic and environmental goods and services for the equitable benefit of all citizens and natural environment while still maintaining a minimum of 60% of the land under forest cover. It sets forth various forest uses and the priorities including production forests, nature conservation, watershed management, social forestry (community forests and private forests), and forest based industries.
