National Environment and Development Sector Plan 2017–2021, 2017 (Samoa)
The National Environment Sector Plan (NESP) 2017‐2021 outlines the sector's vision, goal and an achievable framework for action that is aligned with the Strategy for the Development of Samoa (SDS) 2016‐2020, the sector policy and legislative framework, and regional and international obligations under various multilateral environmental agreements to which Samoa is a party. The NESP is based on the most recent State of the Environment assessment documented in 2013, lessons learned from the previous NESP and outcomes of the Sector SWOT Analysis, which were products of the periodic NESP review and update process. The NESP sets out the plan of action for the Environment Sector during the period 2017‐2021. The plan consists of four Long-Term Outcomes (LTOs) under which 15 End of Sector Plan Outcomes (ESPOs) will be pursued.
The four long-term outcomes are:
- Sustainable management and development of natural resources and environment improved
- A more sustainable and resilient-built environment
- Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management mainstreamed across all sectors
- Effective enabling environment
