National Auto Fuel Policy and Auto Fuel Vision and Policy 2025 (Report of the Expert Committee), India

The National Auto Fuel Policy and Auto Fuel Vision and Policy 2025 of India is the result of the periodic revision of the policy which was first completed in 2003, in order to incorporate technological and other changes into the policy framework. The key issue in the preparation of the policy was the human health dimension which has to be kept at the highest priority. Hence, the proximate objective must be to roll out fuels containing progressively less sulfur at the earliest possible date. The Expert Committee thus sets forth the roadmap for the roll out of the low-sulfur gasoline throughout India. The Expert Committee also considered possible alternative fuels such as natural gas, auto-liquefied petroleum gas (auto-LPG), methanol, ethanol, hydrogen, and electricity. Finally, the Expert Committee examined fiscal support and regulatory issues.
