National 3R Strategy for Waste Management, 2010 (Bangladesh)

The National 3R Strategy for Waste Management refers to the principles of reducing waste, reusing and recycling resources and products. According to the policy, this could be effectively done by focusing on reducing waste, to be followed by reusing and recycling. 

Among the practices cited in the strategy are:

  • Water being considered as a resource
  • Source separation of waste
  • Selection of appropriate and affordable technology
  • Use of emission reducing technology
  • Cleaner production
  • Product-life extension
  • Industrial symbiosis and by-product exchange
  • Supporting green exchange and having an Environmental Management System
  • Public-private partnership
