Master Plan for Integrated Biodiversity Management, 2015–2021 (Thailand)

The Master Plan for Integrated Biodiversity Management, prepared in compliance with the Convention on Biological Diversity, is the main biological diversity roadmap of Thailand. The 2015-2021 version is the fourth formulation of the Master Plan. The document reviews the state of biodiversity in the country. It also looks into the threats to biodiversity, issues and difficulties in the implementation of national policies on biodiversity, and other biodiversity issues. The plan sets out the policies and development directions, both global and local, and relevant biodiversity concepts and principles.

The Master Plan then outlines the substance of the biodiversity management plan itself. It envisions that by 2021, people live in harmony with nature, and the government, along with all sectors, promotes and supports the protection, conservation and sustainable utilization of biodiversity. Its mission is to integrate the management, protection, restoration and utilization of biodiversity in an efficient manner so as to halt biodiversity loss. It also aims to promote the importance of policy and management, raise social awareness on roles and importance of biodiversity in sustainable development and green economy, including livelihood and way of life of the people. The Master Plan also presents the overall targets and indicators, and the strategies for integrated biodiversity management. Finally, it discusses the implementation of the plan and its specific targets.
