Marine Resources Act 2005 (Cook Islands)

The Act mandates and establishes the functions and powers of the Ministry of Marine Resources which has authority over the conservation, management and development of living and non-living resources in the fishery waters. 

The Act lays down the rules and regulations with respect to fishing and related activities including the requirement of a license or authorization for the foregoing activities. It also provides the conservation measures related to marine resources by prohibiting certain methods and activities. 

The Act further specifies the rules, procedures, conditions, fees, cancellation or suspension, among others, of issued licenses for purposes of conducting activities in the fishery waters.
