Malaysian Biofuel Industry Act, 2007

The Malaysian Biofuel Industry Act 2007 provides for the mandatory use of biofuel and governs licensing activities relating to biofuel. The Minister charged with responsibility over biofuel may prescribe the type of biofuel and its percentage by volume to be blended in any fuel or activity in which the use of a biofuel or blended biofuel shall be made mandatory. It requires a license for persons commencing or engaging in activities such as construction of biofuel plant, production or blending of biofuel, blending, export, import, transport, storage, survey or testing of biofuels. Failure to secure such license prior to engaging in these activities is an offense punishable with fine, imprisonment or both. The law also outlines the procedure to apply for such license, as well as the grounds for its revocation. It also contains provisions on enforcement, seizure and arrest as to offences under the Act.
