Low Emission Development Strategy 2018–2050, 2018 (Fiji)

Fiji's Low-Emission Development Strategy (LEDS) is grounded on the central goal to reach net zero emissions by 2050 across all sectors of its economy. To achieve this, the LEDS defined four possible low emission scenarios. The Business-as-Usual (BAU) scenario reflects the implementation of existing and official policies, targets and technologies. The BAU-Conditional scenario is reliant on external or international financing to implement mitigation actions. The High Ambition scenario project ambitions beyond those in existing policies, relying on the adoption of new, more ambitious policies and technologies and availability of additional financing. The Very High Ambition scenario pertains to the adoption of significantly more ambitious policies, new technologies and additional financing, with most sectors achieving net zero or negative emissions by 2050. Each of the emission reduction scenarios detailed for each sector in this LEDS is underpinned by a range of key policies and actions that must be undertaken in each sector to achieve the emission reductions. These include key actions for electricity and other energy use, land transport, maritime transport, domestic aviation, agriculture, forestry and other land use, and waste management.
