Kiribati Joint Implementation Plan for Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management 2014–2023, 2014

The Kiribati Joint Implementation Plan (KJIP) on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management KJIP was formulated with the aim of increasing resilience using sustainable climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction using a whole-of-country approach. It identifies 12 major strategies to reduce vulnerabilities and respond to observed and likely impacts of climate change and disaster risks. Each strategy has a corresponding key action and sub-action, as well as outcomes and performance indicators. The strategies and actions in the KJIP are inclusive of vulnerable groups, gender, youth and children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. The KJIP complements and supports the Kiribati Development Plan, operationalizing an integrated approach to incorporating climate change and disaster risks in national and community development planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluations.
