Joint Circular Re: Establishment of the Shari'ah Supervisory Board in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao

The Joint Circular establishing the Shari'ah Supervisory Board (SSB) implements the Bangsamoro Organic Law. It prescribes the guidelines for the functions of the SSB, its composition, and the minimum qualifications of its members.

The SSB is mandated to issue Shari'ah opinions on Islamic banking transactions and Shari'ah products in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and when requested by the Bangko Sentral, financial institutions and other stakeholders. The Joint Circular also sets out an escalation process in case the opinions issued by the SSB and the Shari'ah Advisory Council of the Islamic Bank/Islamic Bank Unit are conflicting.
