Increasing the Age for Determining Statutory Rape, Republic Act No. 11648 (Philippines)

Rape is committed by a person who shall have carnal knowledge of an offended party who is under 16 years of age or is demented, even though none of the circumstances enumerated in Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by the Anti-Rape Law, are present. The Act states that sexual intercourse or lascivious conduct with a victim under 16 years of age who is exploited in prostitution or subjected to sexual abuse shall be prosecuted under rape, or lascivious conduct, as applicable. It also imposed the maximum period of penalty when the victim of child trafficking is under 16 years of age.
