Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Safe Spaces Act (Philippines)

The Local Government Units are primarily responsible for the enforcement of the provisions for Gender-Based Streets and Public Spaces Sexual Harassment. The Metro Manila Development Authority, the Philippine National Police (PNP) local units and the Women and Children Protection Desk of the PNP have authority to apprehend violations for Gender-Based Sexual Harassment committed in streets and public places. The Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) also provide for the specific penalties of the violations of the Safe Spaces Act. For gender-based online sexual harassment, the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group is primarily responsible for the implementation of the laws on cybercrime, and the Safe Spaces Act. The IRR likewise enumerated the duties of the employers and school heads with respect to the prevention of gender-based sexual harassment in the workplace and educational institutions.
