Human Rights Case No. 42389–P of 2013, 2014 SCMR 515 (Pakistan)

The case involved the alleged gang rape of a deaf-mute woman. It appears that the police committed negligence in the investigation, failing to record the statement of the victim promptly as well as to have the victim medically examined in a timely manner, neglecting to press formal charges against the accused despite their arrest and exonerating the accused based on a mere affidavit. The court thus directed the initiation of criminal proceedings against all concerned delinquent police officers and independent investigation of anyone involved in the case.
