Halal Certificate and Halal Label Order, 2005 (Brunei Darussalam)

A halal certificate, when exhibited in any place of business, means that the food to which that certificate is referring has been certified as compliant with the Hukum Syara'. A halal label, on the other hand, when used in relation to food in the course of trade or business, means that such food has been prepared in accordance with the Hukum Syara'.

The Act provides the rules and regulations with respect to the application of the halal certificate, as well as the process for its issuance. The Act also established and defined the powers, functions and roles of the Halal Certificate and Halal Label Inspection Committee and enforcement officers for the implementation of the Act. It also lists the prohibited offenses, such as failure to separate food that bear the halal label or permit from any other packages, exhibition of expired certificates, alteration of any certification or permit, among others.
