Forest and Nature Conservation Act of Bhutan, 1995

The Act mandates the Department of Forestry to sustainably manage government reserved forests, and regulate forest produce and wildlife, whether located in a government reserved forest or not. It is also mandated to craft and develop plans for the management of forests, wildlife and related natural resources of Bhutan.

It defines government reserved forests, the prohibited acts therein and other activities which require prior permits including entry into designated areas, camping, hiking or using vehicles, taking photographs and conducting scientific research. It also prescribes the rules on social forestry and community forestry, the transport, import and export of forest produce, conservation of wildlife, and soil and water conservation.
