The Foreign Investment and Technology Transfer Act, 2019 (2075) (Nepal)
The Act provides a list of industries or businesses where foreign investment is restricted. For all other industries not covered by the restricted list, the Act allows foreign investment which can be made individually or jointly, or establishing an industry jointly with an industry already established in Nepal or by a Nepali citizen.
Foreign investment can be done through the purchase of assets, purchase of shares in the industry, via a technology transfer, through the establishment or expansion of a branch of any industry incorporated in a foreign country or through the establishment of a venture capital fund, among others. The Act further provides the procedures and requirements for the application and approval of foreign investments.
