Family Courts Act of 1997, Republic Act No. 8369 (Philippines)
The Act established a family court in every province and city in the country. The Act required family court judges and court personnel of family courts to undergo training. They must have the experience and can demonstrate the ability to deal with child and family cases.
The Act defines the jurisdiction of family courts over cases which include, among others, violence against women and children. It further provides the special provisional remedies in cases of violence among immediate family members living in the same household.
