Fair Trading Act 2008 (Cook Islands)

The Office of Consumer Affairs was established which has the function of recommending to the Minister legislative, regulatory, administrative or other actions on fair trading, disclosure of consumer information relating to the supply of goods and services, and product safety, among others.

 The Act prohibits and defines misleading and deceptive conduct, false representations, and unfair practices in the supply and trade of goods and services. It also provides the information which is required to be disclosed to customers with respect to goods and services. It also lays down the requirement to comply with product safety standards.
