Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, Order No. 175 of 2011 (Vanuatu)

The Regulation implements the Environmental Management and Conservation Act. The Regulation specifies which projects, proposals or development activities are subject to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) provisions of the Act. It provides in greater detail the procedure for conducting an EIA, including the public consultations, conduct of the EIA, the contents of the EIA Report and its preparation, and the environmental management and monitoring plan. It authorizes the Director to issue written guidelines for preliminary environmental assessments, terms of reference, EIA report, EMMP, review of the EIA report, public notices and meetings and other documents and procedures required by this Regulation for which a form is not prescribed, and any other matter in relation to the regulations which the Director deems appropriate. It also prescribes amounts for penalty notices.
