Environment (Prescribed Activities) Regulation 2002 (Papua New Guinea)

The Environment (Prescribed Activities) Regulation classifies activities into Levels 1, 2 or 3 for purposes of the requirement in the Environmental Act to secure permits for Level 2 and 3 activities. The Regulation contains schedules listing down activities classified as Levels 2 and 3. Activities under Level 2 are further classified into Categories A and B. Level 1 activities are those activities not listed in the schedules, hence not classified under either Level 2 or 3. The Regulation provides that where an activity involves two or more categories of Level 2 or Level 3, an application for permit for that activity shall identify all Level 2 or Level 3 categories that are relevant to the application.
