Energy Efficiency and Conservation Master Plan up to 2030 (Bangladesh)

In order to maintain a sustainable GDP growth of 7%/year up to 2020 and beyond, Bangladesh needs to meet the essential energy needs of the people and industries. For this purpose, demand-side energy management is as important as supply-side infrastructure development. From the macro point of view, the amount of national energy production stands at 27,187 ktoe, while the amount of primary energy use was 33,550 ktoe, including imported fuel. It is estimated that the primary energy consumption will increase approximately three-fold by 2030. The Master Plan outlines the legal, institutional and operational frameworks for the effective implementation of the energy efficiency and conservation (EE&C) initiatives. The Master Plan summarizes the EE&C programs to include the following programs: Energy Management, EE Labeling, EE Building, EE&C Finance Incentive, Government Procurement, Energy Consumption Data Collection, and Global Warming Countermeasure.
