Energy Efficiency Act, 2016 (Tuvalu)

The purpose of the Energy Efficiency Act is to promote, in Tuvalu, energy efficiency, energy conservation and to give effects to certain obligations that Tuvalu has under the Climate Change Conventions and related conventions. The Act expressly mandates all persons and agencies having responsibilities under the Act to apply the precautionary principle. The Act lists down in its schedules the products and appliances to be regulated. It directs the Minister to determine standards for minimum energy performance and/or energy labelling for electrical appliance. It mandates the Director of Energy to be the Regulator of products or appliances subject to the Act. It requires the registration with the Regulator of products which are imported or supplied. The Act also provides for monitoring and investigation, as well as offenses and enforcement, for purposes of the implementation of the Act
