Disaster Management Act of Bhutan, 2013

The National Disaster Management Authority was established as the highest decision-making body on disaster management. It defined the powers and functions of the Dzongkag Disaster Management Committee, the Inter-Ministerial Task Force and the Department of Disaster Management. It requires every agency, including the private sector, to institute a Disaster Management Unit within its organization. It classified disasters for the purpose of immediate and effective responses, as well as other relief measures, and provided the rules with respect to declaration of disasters, relief assistance and compensation.
