Disability Act 2008 (Cook Islands)

The Act requires the Minister of Internal Affairs to establish a Disability Strategy which details the objectives of the Government with respect to laws and policies applicable for persons with disabilities (PWDs), and the provision of disability support services. It states that PWDs shall be entitled to the same rights and privileges as all other persons, and expressly prohibits discrimination of PWDs including discrimination in their employment.

The Act further lays down the procedures for filing a complaint to the Ombudsman in instances of unlawful discrimination against PWDs.
