Department of Migrant Workers Act, Republic Act No. 11641 (Philippines)

The Department of Migrant Workers (Department) is mandated to absorb all powers, functions and mandate of the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency, and all the entities enumerated in Section 19 of the Act. It shall be the primary agency under the Executive Branch of the government which is tasked to protect the rights and promote the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), regardless of status and of the means of entry into the country of destination. The Act also established the Migrant Workers Office of the Philippine Foreign Service Post which shall be the operating arm of the Department overseas. The Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFWs na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Fund was also established to provide legal and other forms of assistance to OFWs.
