Decree-Law No. 20/2003, Legal Tender of Timor-Leste
The official currency of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste is the United States dollar. The bank notes, the United States dollar metallic coins, and the centavos metallic coins issued by the Banking and Payments Authority shall be the only legal tender for all public and private debts in Timor-Leste. The Banking and Payments Authority of Timor-Leste is the institution which discharges the functions of a central bank in the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
