Decree-Law No. 05/2009, Licensing Regulations on the Sale and Quality of Drinking Water (Timor-Leste)
The Decree-Law established the requirements for the production, bottling and treatment of bottled water, as well as the process for licensing in order to legally offer bottled waters for sale. It also laid down the rules with respect to quality certifications to be issued by the Ministries of Health and of Tourism, Commerce and Industry.
It further requires that information about specific characteristics of water for human consumption be provided to consumers through any means of publicity. The Decree-Law further provides for the mandatory information which shall be placed as a label on all packages of water for human consumption.
