Credit Information System Act, Republic Act No. 9510 (Philippines)

The Credit Information Systems Act (CISA) created the Credit Information Corporation (Corporation) which acts as the central repository of credit information. It provides access to a reliable and standardized database on the information of a borrower's credit history.

The CISA enumerates the credit facilities which are required to submit its credit data and updates to the Corporation and requires these credit facilities to update the data of its borrowers on a quarterly basis. The Corporation is authorized to disclose the consolidated basic credit data of the borrower to authorized accessing entities. The CISA protects borrowers by protecting their right to ready and immediate access to their credit information. Should there be erroneous information, the borrower shall have the right to dispute the same.
