Creation of the Environmental Law Enforcement and Protection Service, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Administrative Order No. 2021-28 (Philippines)

The Environmental Law Enforcement and Protection Service (ELEPS) was created under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The Order also enumerated the composition, powers, duties and functions of the divisions under the ELEPS which are the Environmental Law Enforcement Division (ELED) and Environmental Protection Division (EPD). The ELED is empowered to enforce, conduct arrests and prosecute violations of environmental and natural resources laws, rules and regulations, as well as issue and serve cause orders and notices to this effect. On the other hand, the EPD is empowered to formulate and recommend policies to carry out the enforcement mandate of the ELEPS, among others.
