The Consumer Protection Act, 2075 (2018) (Nepal)

The Act enumerates the rights of consumers which include the right to easy access of goods and services, right to choose quality goods and services at competitive prices, and the right to avail of the appropriate legal action against unfair trade and business activities, among others. 

The Government of Nepal regulates the quality, price, supplies, measurement and advertisement of goods and services to protect consumers' rights. It penalizes the conduct of unfair trade and business activities such as misleading advertisement and selling sub-standard goods, among others. It established the Consumer Protection Council for the protection of consumers and the implementation of their rights under the Act. Notably, a Consumer Court may be established by the Government of Nepal when necessary to try and settle cases relating to consumer rights.
