The Constitution of the Republic of Nauru

The fundamental law of the Republic of Nauru provides that every person in Nauru is entitled to the fundamental rights and freedoms of the individual, including the right to life, liberty, security of the person, the enjoyment of property and the protection of the law. It also provides specifically as to the right to life that no person shall be deprived of his life intentionally, except in execution of a sentence of a court following a conviction for a criminal offense. Moreover, the right to property is limited when the property is in a dangerous state or is injurious to the health of human beings, animals or plants.
