Competition Act, 2010 (Pakistan)

The Act prohibits abuses of dominant position and defines prohibited agreements as those which have for their object the effect of preventing, restricting or reducing competition within a relevant market. It also prohibits mergers which substantially lessens competition by creating or strengthening a dominant position in the relevant market.

It established the Competition Commission of Pakistan which is mandated to initiate proceedings in accordance with the Act, conduct studies to promote competition, conduct inquiries into the affairs of any undertaking as may be necessary for the purposes of the Act, and give advice with respect to undertakings to ensure it is consistent with the Act, among others.
