Climate Change Master Plan 2015-2050 (Thailand)

The National Climate Change Master Plan of Thailand presents a roadmap to a sustainable low carbon growth and climate change resilience. It includes an analysis of the current conditions of Thailand's economic and social development trends and directions, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, climate change, consequences of climate change, and responses to the climate change issues.

The Master Plan identifies the following missions:

  • Developing the knowledge base and technology required to support low carbon development and sustainable adaptation to climate change
  • Increasing resilience to climate change by calling for an integrated approach to climate change adaptation measures between stakeholders at all levels
  • Reducing national GHG emissions and develop sustainable low carbon growth modalities
  • Raising awareness and capacity to implement climate change related policies and plans in developmental partners at all levels

The goals of the Master Plan are divided into three phases. The short-term goals, intended to be achieved in 2016, are related to mechanisms and capacity building measures for issues which require immediate implementation. Medium-term goals are intended to be achieved in 2020, and relate to mechanisms and capacity building measures which require time to implement, and reflect the outcome of medium-term actions. Finally, long-term goals reflect long-term actions, including variable goals which require continuous monitoring of indicators, and are intended to be achieved by 2050. The specific goals and targets are discussed in the Master Plan.
