Biological Agents and Toxins Act 2005 (Singapore)

The Act provides a schedule which classifies biological agents according to their risks, as well as a list of toxins. It absolutely prohibits the use of biological agents for non-peaceful purposes. The Act provides the laws and requirements with respect to possession and use, importation, transshipment, transfer and transportation of biological agents and toxins. It imposes duties and obligations on operators of facilities which possess and produce biological agents or toxins. Among these obligations include the appointment of a biosafety committee and biosafety coordinator, as well as proper maintenance of the facilities and equipment of the operator.
