Approved Projects Under the National Target Program on Climate Change 2012–2015, MONRE Decision No. 1651/QD-BTNMT, 2013 (Viet Nam)
The issuance approves three component projects under the National Target Program to respond to climate change.
The project "Assessment of Climate Change and Sea Level Rise" was approved with the following targets:
- Assess and forecast the changing trend of temperature, precipitation, sea level up to the year 2100
- Update scenarios of climate change and sea level rise for Viet Nam
- Build and complete a high-precision digital elevation model in the delta and coastal areas of Viet Nam to serve the research and assessment of impacts of climate change and sea level rise
- Build a monitoring system for climate change and sea level rise for Viet Nam
The project "Development and Implementation of Action Plans to Respond to Climate Change" was approved with the following targets:
- Update and implement action plans to respond to climate change at ministries, branches and localities
- Complete a number of pilot models for climate change adaptation and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions
- Provide basis to evaluate the results, learn from experience, perfect and select some suitable models for replication
Finally, the project “Capacity Building, Communication and Monitoring and Evaluation of the Program Implementation” was approved with the following targets:
- Improve state management capacity on climate change
- Enhance capacity for international cooperation on climate change
- Raise public awareness about climate change
