Anti-Electricity and Electric Transmission Lines/Materials Pilferage Act of 1994, Republic Act No. 7832 (Philippines)

The Act penalizes the illegal use of electricity which may be committed through any of the following acts: 

  • The tapping or connection to any line, electric service wires.
  • Tapping through an existing electric service facility of a registered consumer.
  • The tapping of electrical meters, jumpers, transformers, or wires, or the damaging or destruction of meters, which interferes with the proper and accurate registry of metering electric current. 

It is likewise unlawful to damage or steal any electric power transmission lines and materials as enumerated in the Act. The Act further established the cap on the recoverable rate of system losses.
