Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act of 1997, Republic Act No. 8435 (Philippines)

The Act defines Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization as the process of transforming the agriculture and fisheries sectors into one that is dynamic, technologically advanced and competitive, yet centered on human development and guided by the sound practices of sustainability and the principles of social justice. 

In order to achieve this end, the Act provides the policy framework covering production and marketing support services, human resource development, research development and extension, rural non-farm employment, and trade and fiscal incentives, among others.
