Afghanistan Inclusive And Sustainable Growth Assessment

The report assesses Afghanistan’s current status, challenges, and prospects for inclusive and sustainable growth. It is intended to inform and help shape the country's partnership strategy between the country and the Asian Development Bank. Specifically as to the environment and climate change, it states that Afghanistan’s environment is coming under greater pressures because of rapid population growth, poor management of water resources, overgrazing by livestock, encroachment on forest land and climate change. On global indices, Afghanistan is ranked among the countries most at risk to the adverse effects of climate change because of its vulnerability to expected impacts and its low adaptive capacity. It also discusses the conflict and political economy in the country; recent growth, poverty, inequality and environmental dynamics, and the key impediments to inclusive and sustainable growth.
