Act on Special Measures Concerning Procurement of Electricity from Renewable Energy Sources by Electric Utilities, Act No. 108 of 2011 (Japan)
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry shall determine the price of electricity from renewable energy sources per kilowatt and the period of procurement based on the procurement price.
The Act provides the rules on the implementation of the bidding process for those qualified to offer energy from the renewable energy facilities. It also provides rules on the obligation of electricity utilities to supply or use electricity from renewable energy sources, as well as the applicable requirements for the grant of subsidies to electricity utilities of expenses for procurement of electricity from renewable energy sources based on specific contracts.
