Act on Regulation and Punishment of Acts Relating to Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, and the Protection of Children, Act No. 52 of 1999 (Japan)
The Act makes it unlawful for any person to commit child prostitution, to possess child pornography or retain electronic or magnetic records which depicts the image of a child:
- In sexual intercourse or any conduct of sexual intercourse with a child or between children
- Having genital organs, or
- Wholly or partially naked, which are exhibited or emphasized and arouses sexual desire, in a form recognizable by the sense of sight, without valid reason or to commit any other acts relating to sexual exploitation or sexual abuse of children
The Act also provides for penalties corresponding to the foregoing prohibited acts. It also punishes solicitation of child prostitution, provision of child pornography and trafficking of children for the purpose of child prostitution, among others.
