Act to Facilitate the Employment of Persons with Disabilities, Act No. 123 of 1960 (Japan)

The Act states that every worker with a disability is to be given the opportunity to use their abilities in their working life as a worker who forms a part of the economic aspect of society. It lays down the responsibilities of employers, national and local governments with respect to ensuring the implementation of the provisions of the Act. 

Other measures to aid persons with disabilities (PWDs) towards employment are:

  • The provision of vocational guidance
  • Adaptive training
  • Guidance to persons with disabilities and employers to facilitate employment of PWDs
  • Establishment of vocational centers for PWDs
  • Vocational counselors for PWDs, among others

The Act also provides the guidelines on the prohibition of discrimination against PWDs.
