An Act Creating the Laguna Lake Development Authority, Republic Act No. 4850 (Philippines)

The Laguna Lake Development Authority is vested with regulatory and law-enforcement functions in order to effectively achieve the policy of protecting the Laguna Lake region. Among its functions and powers, include:

  1. The responsibility to draft a detailed plan designed to conserve and optimize the resources within the Laguna Lake region in order to promote its social and economic development.
  2. The power to approve or disapprove all plans and projects proposed by local government units within the Laguna Lake region.
  3. The power to engage in activities within the region which are necessary to its socio-economic development.
  4. To reclaim portions of the lake or undertake reclamation projects.
  5. To issue new permits for the use of the lake waters for any projects to be undertaken therein.
