Abdul Rashid alias Teddy vs. The State, 2013 SCMR 1281 (Pakistan)
In a murder case, the deceased was survived by her mother and four uncles. The mother and three uncles compromised with the accused and waived their right of qisas (retaliation, retributive justice). However, one of the uncles was adamant not to compromise during his lifetime. After the uncle passed away, his successors compromised with the convict and the offense was compounded. The Supreme Court declared that the offense was validly compounded with the agreement of the successors-in-interest of the legal heir.
