Eighth Five-Year Plan July 2020-2025 (Bangladesh)

The Eighth Five-Year Plan (8th FYP) of Bangladesh approaches development with the main task of starting the implementation of PP2041 by bringing Bangladesh closer to the goals of attaining Upper Middle-Income Country (UMIC) status, attaining major Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) targets, and eliminating extreme poverty by FY2031. The development approach of the 8th FYP includes six core themes namely: (i) rapid recovery from COVID-19 to restore health, confidence, employment, income and economic activities, (ii) GDP growth acceleration, employment generation, productivity, acceleration and rapid poverty reduction, (iii) broad-based strategy of inclusiveness, (iv) sustainable, resilient development pathway, (v) development of critical institutions to achieve UMIC status, (vi) attainment of SDG and coping up impact of Least Developed Country graduation. It also includes a COVID-19 recovery plan that encompasses health and economic recovery efforts.
