Shawn Hunter

Shawn Hunter is an international development practitioner and researcher with 20 years of experience driving inclusive economic growth across the Asia-Pacific. He specialises in financial inclusion and the digital economy, with a focus on expanding opportunities for underserved communities and strengthening policy frameworks that support equitable growth.

Shawn has worked extensively with governments, central banks, and industry leaders, including more than a decade of collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), where he has shaped regional initiatives on financial inclusion, digital finance, and economic integration. His work combines rigorous research with capacity-building programs that equip policymakers and regulators to design evidence-based solutions.

He holds a PhD in Economics from Griffith University, an MBA in Global Business Management from the University of Southern Queensland, and a BA in Geography from the University of Queensland.
