Samantha Sy

Samantha Sy is a legal and policy expert with over a decade of experience driving positive change in environmental law, climate change, renewable energy, and sustainable finance. Her current project, managing the Model Forest Act Initiative (MoFAI), aims to develop a comprehensive toolkit empowering stakeholders to design and improve legal frameworks for forest conservation and management.

Previously, Samantha's work has spanned diverse sectors.  As a consultant at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), she contributed to legal reform projects within the energy and climate change team. With the Forest Foundation Philippines, she played a key role in enhancing landscape governance strategies. Through ImagineLaw, she addressed critical public health issues in the Philippines and Papua New Guinea. At SN AboitizPower, a leading Philippine renewable energy producer, she served as counsel. Earlier in her career, she honed her legal expertise as an associate at PMFSL Law Offices, advising clients on corporate, labor, and litigation matters.

Samantha holds an LLM with distinction in energy and natural resources law from Queen Mary University, earned as a Chevening scholar. She is a JD graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Law and is qualified to practice in the Philippines.
